Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I go in the pool with my dog
Sorry, NO. At barkers we are a dedicated rehab centre and your dog will go into the pool or treadmill with one of our qualified rehab specialists who will be able to feel your dogs movement and make appropriate adjustments to your dogs gait or movement in order to gain the desired improvement. Dogs attending for water confidence will also swim with staff for safety reasons and to ensure your dog has a positive experience.
2. Are your staff qualified?
YES, in fact at barkers we not only employ hydrotherapists but we also have veterinary physiotherapists onsite almost every day. All of our bespoke treatment plans are created and managed by our VP’s and carried out by both Hydrotherapists and VP’s.
3. What if my dog can’t swim?
The idea that all dogs can swim is a myth, many can’t. At barkers our staff are fully trained and highly experienced in managing dogs that are not so keen on getting wet. We have many options in encouraging your dog to become confident in the water. Please note, we will never force your dog into the water against his will and will discontinue sessions if your dog becomes distressed.
4. Can I claim on insurance?
YES, as long as your policy covers physiotherapy and/or hydrotherapy then yes you can reclaim what you have paid us for your sessions from your insurance company.
5. Will other dogs be in the pool?
NO, to ensure your dog has a safe and effective session we only allow one dog at a time in the pool.
6. Is the water chlorinated?
Yes, our water is chlorinated and tested several times a day to ensure levels are within safe and effective parameters.
