Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I be present at my dogs session
YES, Absolutely. we encourage owners to attend sessions. Most dogs prefer to have a familiar person with them. Also as the owner you are able to tell your therapist what is normal or not for your dog. you will also be fully aware of what has taken place during each session and can be fully involved in your dogs rehabilitation. Occasionally we have dogs that are better behaved without their owners and we might suggest getting a cup of tea and returning later.
2. Are your staff qualified?
YES, in fact at barkers we not only employ hydrotherapists but we also have veterinary physiotherapists onsite almost every day. All of our bespoke treatment plans are created and managed by our VP’s and carried out by both Hydrotherapists and VP’s.
3. What if my dog doesnt like water?
At barkers our staff are fully trained and highly experienced in managing dogs that are not so keen on getting wet. We have many tricks up our sleeves when encouraging your dog to become confident during their sessions. we encourage the use of treats and toys and will never force a dog to do something they are not happy to do. We find most dogs get the hang of it in a few sessions.
4. Can I claim on insurance?
YES, as long as your policy covers physiotherapy and/or hydrotherapy then yes you can reclaim what you have paid us for your sessions from your insurance company.
5. What if my dog doesnt like the water treadmill
Most dogs really surprise their owners and take to it likes docks to water. When we do encounter a dog that is a bit worried we take things very slow, at the dogs pace and most dogs are confident and happy in a few sessions. We often get dogs who were initially worried and after a few sessions they don’t want to leave.
6. Is the water chlorinated?
Yes, our water is chlorinated and tested several times a day to ensure levels are within safe and effective parameters.
7. Is your centre registered?
8. Do you offer discounts?
Due to exceptionally high demand for our services we generally do not offer discounts. However, if your dog requires regular, long term sessions we can consider applying a discount to your account.
